Refund Policy: We'd hate to see you cancel but we know things can come up so we've created a policy that's fair to all 🙏🏽

• Cancellation up to 24 hours after booking a trip: Fully refundable.
• Cancellation 181 days or more before the trip start date: Loss of deposit; the rest of the trip payment is fully refundable. 100% of the trip deposit can be transferred over to a different trip.
• Cancellation 121 - 180 days before the trip start date: 50% refund, minus the deposit. Deposit can be transferred over to a different trip.
• Cancellation 120 days before the trip’s start date: No refunds are guaranteed. Credit for a future Heart of Travel trip will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

If you can’t make it on a trip but you find someone else who can go in your place we are happy to transfer over your dues paid to this person’s account. However, in some instances, there may be a domestic flight or another type of reservation with a third-party supplier that can only be transferred to a new person with a transfer fee. In this case, you would be responsible for the transfer or cancellation fee.

Guaranteed Departures: We know how precious your travel days and dollars are. If you register for a trip and we don't hit the required minimum of participants - you have the option to transfer 100% of the funds paid over to another HOT trip of your choosing at any time. Or, you can opt to continue with the trip on the original dates, however, the itinerary is subject to small changes, and there will be an additional 15-20% surcharge based on the original trip price for a private tour, which can be customized further if desired.

Single Supplements: If you know you want your own space please upgrade to a single supplement at the time of booking. If you are traveling solo but open to a roommate we will do our best to match you with another travel. However, if HOT is unable to find a roommate for you, you will be responsible for paying the Single Supplement charge according to each trip

Yes, absolutely. We would never bring travelers to a place that isn’t safe. While Colombia has a complex past, its social situation has improved greatly in the last decade, and tourism is thriving. We personally vet every destination and stay in touch with local partners to ensure safety. We hope you’ll come experience the magic of Colombia with us.

The weather in Antioquia ranges from warm to cool and can be unpredictable, so we recommend packing layers, including light shirts for warm weather and cozy top layers for cooler temperatures. Santa Elena, at a higher altitude than Medellín and Guatapé, will likely be colder, so bring something warm to sleep in. You’ll also need active clothes and shoes for light hiking in forested areas, along with a rain-proof layer like a thin jacket or reusable poncho, as precipitation is common. Ample sun protection and insect repellent are essential for this trip. Finally, remember to bring any medications, personal items you need for the trip, and a reusable water bottle.

For any purchases outside the planned itinerary, including souvenirs or additional meals and activities, we recommend having cash in Colombian Pesos on hand. While many places accept credit or debit cards, it’s not guaranteed, and some businesses may add extra charges for card payments. Bringing the equivalent of $100–$300 USD in pesos should be sufficient unless you plan to buy higher-cost items like art, clothing, or a tattoo. You can convert currency before arrival through your bank or use ATMs in Colombia, and we’re happy to help you withdraw cash during your trip if needed. Please note that ATM withdrawals may include fees of up to $8 USD, and conversion rates can vary.

US and Canadian citizens do not need a visa to visit Colombia for up to 90 days, though you should be prepared to show proof of your exit flight and the address where you’ll be staying. Your accommodation address will be available on the itinerary before departure, so please check in with us if you need it. Within 72 hours of your arrival, you will need to complete a form called Check Mig, which can be filled out online. After submitting it, you will receive an email confirmation to show to customs if requested.
